in. they've been married 35 years, have two grown kids. so how will this revelation exact the u.s. intelligence community? joining me now is fran townsend and bob baer and suzanne kelly. suzanne, what more can you tell us about the probe into the relationship with paula broadwell? do we know how long this has been going on? >> we don't know how long it was going on, but just the -- so they're the ones that would look into accusations of inappropriate access to classified information. individuals that hold clearances, are they doing what they need to be doing to make sure that information stays safe? is there any opportunity whatsoever that that information could be exploited by either a spy or anyone else who shouldn't have access to that information. so the fact that they were the ones looking into this, tells you that, you know, they were concerned about some of the e-mail things. let's back up for a moment. this was a tip that they were given. that there was this relationship going on between the two. what they have dug into were things like e-mails, texts, things like that. an

cutting ceremony. >>> more now on the downfall of the now former cia director david petraeus. u.s. government official is telling cnn the affair that caused petraeus' stepdown was first revealed through an fbi investigation. suzanne kelly has more now. suzanne? >> we now know from a u.s. official it was a complaint that paula broadwell, the woman who wrote the biography of general peatry was was sending harassing e-mails to another woman that prompted the fbi to investigate. also we know from that source that the investigation led to the discovery of e-mails between broadwell and petraeus that indicated the affair. that second woman hasn't been identified and the official we spoke with didn't know the nature of that woman's relationship with the former director. but more details are coming out about the time line of events and when u.s. officials were notified of the circumstances of this investigation. senior u.s. intelligence official tells cnn the fbi informed the director of national intelligence, james clapper, about the investigation on tuesday night, election night, just as

'll be talking to the ceos of macy's and toys "r" us later on. >> stacey cohan has joined the pilgrimage at the pentagon city mall at arlington, virginia. she joins us now. stacey, some 200 stores in this mall, four levels? what have you been seeing? >> it's enormous. if you want to shop this is the place to do it. some of the anchor stores, larger retailers opened at midnight. the store in general opened at 5:00 this morning. i just got some numbers on the parking lot which usually can tell you some idea of how many people are here. it's about 15% full. that is as of 5:00 a.m. keep in mind, that's 5:00 a.m. and we also have a metro station within walking distance of the mall. so many people come here that way. people are steady filing in. and, i just got this, which is i've not seen black fridays before, this is a shopper bag that they are providing, a shopper relief bag to shoppers out here. they've got some really neat items, bottled water. they have hand sanitizer. there are smacks in here, candy and ships and a lot of coupons for the stores. so that's on top of the black friday deal

us. rick, i'm going to kick this off with you. what are traders saying ahead of tomorrow's election? >> they certainly expect a lot more movement in markets tomorrow and the following day. today was a go nowhere range day. even in the stocks they move into positive territory. dollar index has been firmly but lightly in positive territory with little turnover. same with the euro. many traders are saying, you know, it was momentum that propelled the giants in baseball. so, they're putting a lot of stock in momentum, which may be a positive for the challenger in the form of mitt romney but everybody has their own unique foibles how they want to proceed on the trading side. traders aren't giving me anything solid as a glimpse into who wins but they seem optimistic they think the fiscal cliff will be dealt with, but it won't be dealt with until next year and dealt with retrospectively. >> i would agree, that's what people are saying now. chris, regardless, you're saying you're staying neutral before the election. what does that mean? where are you putting your money right now? >> i think

hill this morning. thank you. >>> neighbors tell us a woman watched as a prince george's county sheriff's deputy shot and killed her son last night. the shooting happened on 63rd avenue in east riverdale, maryland. the sheriff's captain nancy ridgely says the deputy was trying to serve a temporary protective order. it's believed the man's mother opened the door but then he appeared behind her pointing a gun at the deputy. the deputy fired one shot and killed the man. the deputy is a ten-year veteran and has been placed on leave while the shooting is investigated. >>> also in prince george's county, police have arrested four men in a deadly 2010 shooting that just became a murder case. it's been two years since melvin pike was found shot inside his car, but last week the 29-yard pike died of complications related to that shooting. officers have ruled the manner of death a homicide. the four men have been ged char with murder and several other felony counts. >>> the man convicted of grabbing four women in dupont circle as he bicycled past them is headed to jail for three months. a d.c. ju

keilar's with us at the white house. you were at the president's campaign headquarters. you did excellent job covering what was going on last night. at what point did they finally realize this was going to be an excellent night for the president? >> reporter: you know, they seemed pretty confident early on. they seemed relaxed. and they seemed calm. but obviously, i think, they were waiting ultimately until ohio, until they could really breathe a sigh of relief because there were obviously a lot of concerns about the recounts. but i think they were looking and seeing the margins that they were winning in some of those battleground states. and they felt like it was going to be a good night for them. remember, we heard even days before and yes, it was spin, but it turned out to be true from some of the president's top campaign advisors -- pardon the wind here at the white house -- they thought they were going to win the electoral vote and the popular vote and there was some folks wondering about that. but i also think, wolf, now you're moving on very much to reality. and that's so much what
